Changing Default Timezone on Ubuntu Server

To update the default timezone on an ubuntu box (at least, 14.04 LTS) – you should note that tzconfig is depreciated. Instead, run:

dpkg-reconfigure tzdata

If you’re wanting to choose Pacific Time (aka America/Los_Angeles), you should choose either Pacific-New orĀ Pacific Ocean (preferably Pacific Ocean, as legislature should have nothing to do with tzdata).
